Day 1: Visit one of the highest active volcano, The Cotopaxi

In the morning we will be heading south through the “Avenue of the Volcanoes” towards to Cotopaxi National Park. We will be visiting the surrounding areas known as “paramos” (Highlands). Upon arrival we will visit The Limpiopungo valley. If the weather is favorable we can spot the perfectly cone-shaped volcano. In the afternoon we will enjoy a local lunch at a Colonial Hacienda nearby, and next, continue on to Zumbahua, where the Quilotoa Crater Lake is located, up in the Andes. Overnight in the area.

Day 2: Quilotoa and return to Quito or to your next destination

In the morning after breakfast we will visit the Quilotoa Crater Lake”, which is the most beautiful lake in Ecuador. The 3 kilometer (2 mi)-wide caldera was formed by the collapse of its rock walls following an eruption about 800 years ago, and now it is a wonderful lake. The volcano is at 4000m/12000ft, above sea level, once at the site you have many choices for activities such as: walking down 400m to the lake itself (the walk up and down to the lake is a little hard, but it’s so worth it, and you can rent donkeys if you dont feel like walking back up), rent a kayak at the lake, or just relax by the observation point on the outer-rim of the volcano. In the afternoon retour to Quito.
