YARINA ECO LODGE

Yarina Eco Lodge is located about an hour from Coca by motor canoe, 25 Km in a straight line (down river) from Puerto Francisco de Orellana (El Coca). Yarina Eco Lodge, is a privately owned rainforest reserve (550 hectares), located near the Yasuni National Park, in the primary upper rainforest. Yasuni National Park is one of the most biologically diverse regions in the world. Everything located in the Amazon basin, borders on the Napo River, a major tributary of the Amazon River.

Yarina Lodge was founded on this principle, and they share this passion for conservation with all of their guests. As part of the Yuturi Conservation Group, guides strive to teach visitors the importance of the rainforest, and since their inauguration more than a decade ago, they have also become one of Ecuador’s best Amazon animal rescue centers. While you’re here, you will enjoy a variety of exciting activities that let you learn about this virgin jungle in the most hands-on way. In addition to participating in responsible tourism, you will have a chance to do truly unique activities, like using a blowgun, having a shamanic experience, and racing down the Manduro and Napo Rivers. 4 DAY EXAMPLE ITINERARY – YARINA ECO LODGE

Day 1: Departure from Quito to Coca – Yarina

Meet in Coca and transfer by motor canoe to Yarina, time to relax and to enjoy a delicious lunch. After lunch we visit the Socali path, characterized for a variety of different jungle lands. This path is used like an introduction trail to learn about the flora and fauna that is possible to find in different types of forest. Return to the lodge to have the dinner and resting time.

Day 2: Hiking in the jungle

After breakfast we will visit the Capibara path. An adventure trail with many swamps. In this trail you will see some palm trees that is possible to see in other places. Return to the lodge to take the lunch.

Late in the afternoon without rubber boots and wearing comfortable dresses (shorts is recommended). The local guides are going to teach us how to use the blowpipe. After this activity we will take a small canoe to enjoy with the piranha fishing. Return to the lodge to take the dinner.

Resting time.

Day 3: Cultural experiences and learn about plants.

After breakfast we will take the motor boat to go out of the borders of our reserve and visit an indigenous family of the Quichuas del Oriente community. Our guides will talk to you about traditions and costumes of these tribes. Return to the lodge for lunch. In the afternoon we will walk through the “Guatusos trail”. A new opportunity to learn from our guides the utility of some plants, about birds, insects and animals. Return to the lodge, dinner and resting time.

Day 4: Return to Coca or continue to your next destination.

After breakfast, we depart back to Coca in time to take your flight back to Quito or continue to your next destination.
